
As an almost lifelong resident of Sarasota, Florida, Jessica Fairweather has spent her entire legal career practicing in the local community and focuses her practice on Labor and Employment Law. Ms. Fairweather graduated from Florida State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and minors in French, Spanish, and British Studies. While in college, she studied in London, England where she gained extensive knowledge of the history of British and US law. Ms. Fairweather earned her Juris Doctorate Degree from Florida State University in 2004. While in law school, Ms. Fairweather received the Book Award in Foreign Relations Law by earning the highest grade in her class. She was admitted to the Florida bar in 2005 and was admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts in 2008.
After being admitted to the Florida bar in 2005, Ms. Fairweather worked as a State Prosecutor in Sarasota where she gained extensive litigation experience. She prosecuted felony, misdemeanor, juvenile, and domestic violence cases while at the State Attorneys Office and has won dozens of trials. Ms. Fairweather’s extensive courtroom experience has given her the ability to handle all types of cases and her dedication to her clients is evident through the personal attention she gives each client and the zealous manner in which she advocates for them. She has handled employment law litigation matters including, but not limited to, discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour cases, counseled both public and private sector employers in reductions in force, drafted and reviewed employer handbooks, policies, and manuals, drafted and reviewed severance agreements, and provided assistance with many Union negotiations matters and Human Resources issues.
